In the first room, visitors can gain an overview of the Middle Ages, the period of Ottoman rule, and the Rákóczi War of Independence, before learning about the process by which the settlement became a town. Among other highlights, visitors can see a portrait gallery of notable figures who played an important role in the town’s life, as well as gain an insight into the diverse world of Szentes’s craftsmen. The museum’s namesake, József Koszta, settled in Szentes at the age of 50, living and working here until his death. His works can also be viewed in the room named after him.
